Riverview we strive to cross denomination lines and come together as Christians. That was Dr. Chandler's vision from the beginning. Some of our members have been members in Methodist Churches, Church of Christ and Catholic Churches.
We come together as Christians, serving the same Lord and seeking the same Savior that the first disciples followed, not because we are righteous, but because we are not righteous, We all have our weaknesses. Some of us struggle with the lust of David, or the deceitfulness of Jacob, the doubts of Thomas, and the impatience of Peter as we strive for the faith that Job had. And our hope is grounded in faith: "Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the son of God." (1 John 5:5) NIV
~~3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.(2 Corinthians 10:3-6)NIV
Riverview Baptist Church was established in 1988 as a church plant with Dr. Malone Chandler as it's pastor. Today Dr. Chandler is still the pastor. "Back then I thought that I would get this church established and go on to plant other churches," he said, "but God has kept me here." At
